How To Get Pregnant When All Hope Seems Lost! Don’t Let Infertility Beat You!

First let me say that you are not alone! That child you so longingly wait for is also waiting for you. God is not punishing you. Nothing is wrong with you – this is one of your first mistakes – believing that you are someone to be “fixed”. Without procreation, our world would cease to exist. This is how you know that you are meant to have a child. That is not to say that there aren’t families created through adoption, or that there aren’t couples who prefer not to have children. Families come in all different forms. But if your wholehearted wish is to get pregnant, I can help you.

After several years of trying to conceive on our own, we decided to find out why we weren’t conceiving. According to the Reproductive Endocronologist, My husband had a low sperm count. It was so low that we were told our chances of conceiving on our own were slim to none. The doctor’s recommendation was to try Intrauterine Insemination for 6 months. If we had no luck, we would look into adding fertility drugs.

The first time we did Intrauterine Insemination, my husband’s count was 5200 and 60% of the sperm were malformed. A normal sperm count is 20,000. At the time, I knew nothing about infertility. I researched methods of increasing sperm count as well as improving the sperm health. We tried zinc, vitamin B and L-carnitine supplements. His sperm count increased, but only slightly to 7100. The sperm morphology and motility increased by 20%. We were unsuccessful at getting pregnant using Intrauterine Insemination.

The doctors decided to put me on clomid despite the fact that all of my testing came back fine. Without knowing much about infertility drugs, I agreed to try the regimen. Clomid made me feel nauseas, moody, and I was having constant hot flashes. We were still unsuccessful. After 6 months on clomid, the doctor suggested injectible drugs. We agreed to try this out of desperation. After 6 months and thousands of dollars spent, I began researching the drugs I had been taking. I became concerned about taking the infertility drugs, as according to my blood work, I was ovulating just fine. It seemed as though the doctor’s goal was to increase my number of eggs in order to increase the number of targets. I did not believe this was the answer.

We decided to take a break and re-evaluate our lives. Our marriage was strained. It takes a lot for me to admit this, but I blamed my husband. I felt that maybe he just didn’t want it badly enough. Infertility sufferer’s become desperate and blame everyone and everything. Believe me, I understand. I was there. Because of the turmoil in our marriage, we felt putting our dreams of having a child on hold was in order. We decided to work on our marriage without trying or preventing conception. Sex became fun again. Prior to this, it was a task to be completed. We fell in love again and remembered why we married each other in the first place. We continued to pray for children, but it was not the focus of our lives.

Four years later, we felt the need to decide whether to give it another shot or look in to adoption. We discovered a book explaining the reasons for infertility and how to overcome them using Ancient Chinese Medicine. My husband and I followed it to a tee. Two months later, we went back to the doctor to start the process of Intrauterine Insemination again, hoping we had increased his counts a little bit with the techniques. His had a semen analysis showed a sperm count of 26,000 and the morphology and motility had increased by 75%! That may not seem like a huge increase, but the doctors were thrilled! They suggested we move forward with Intrauterine Insemination, but first they needed to do a blood panel on me as I was on cycle day 3, which is the perfect time to check a woman’s estrogen level. We left the doctor’s office and went to lunch. While we were at lunch, the Reproductive Endocronologist called and said that she had some really interesting news. Rather than just checking the estrogen level, she requested a complete report on my blood work. I had an HCG level of 966, which indicated a very healthy pregnancy! I was confused because I was on cycle day 3 of my period and she responded by saying that many women have implantation in the beginning of their pregnancy that can mimic a period. I couldn’t believe it was true.
