Cosmetic Surgery – Fat Transfer – The Various Areas Where Fat Transfer Can Be Applied
Among the most amazing of new procedures offered by modern technology for improving your looks is the transfer of fat from one part of the body to another. Reinjecting fat from your own body into other areas is surprisingly effective and long lasting. Some of the most popular areas where this works are the face, the rear end and the hands.
The Face: As we age, our faces start to change shape and lose fullness as collagen production slows and layers of fat under the skin start to recede. The result is often sagging or hollow looking cheeks, chins, and under eye bags. Fat can be transferred from the stomach, hips, or thighs and reinserted into the structures under the facial skin to recreate a vision of youth.
The removed cells must go through a rigorous purification process to make sure only the best cells are used for plumping up your face. These cells are injected with special syringes under the skin in the targeted areas.
As with any body region that receives this type of treatment, cosmetic surgeons will usually insert dozens or hundreds of cells, knowing that the initial look will be different from the permanent look as some of the cells are lost in the process. So the face may look especially plump right after the procedure, but after a week or two the desired results will start to appear.
This operation can be especially effective for the cheeks, lips, and eye areas. And while it is more involved and perhaps pricier than injectable fillers, this cosmetic surgery option can create more dramatic results that last for much longer, even up to ten years.
The Buttocks: Transferring fat from the stomach or thighs to the buttocks is traditionally known as the Brazilian butt lift. Many women seek to achieve rounder, perkier tushes in the style of the likes of Jennifer Lopez.
Liposuction is typically performed first in the areas surrounding the buttocks to make them stand out more from the rest of the profile. Then fat removed from these regions is purified and injected hundreds of times into different parts of the buttocks and at different depths. This helps to ensure a natural, smooth looking shape. While the recovery period can involve not sitting directly on your derriere for up to three weeks, the results are long-lasting and provide for a much shapelier rear end.
The Hands: The prominent veins and sunken skin of the hands as we get older can be a tell-tale sign of our age, giving us away even if our face does not. Such transfers into the hands can smooth them out and give them greater fullness, erasing years from your hands’ appearance.
If you are hoping to achieve a younger look in your face and hands or a more voluptuous look with a more curvaceous derriere, talk to your plastic surgeon about transfer procedures.
