Casual Dresses

We have been through a patch recently when it has been seen as acceptable to wear jeans, hoodies and sloppy clothes everyday. Women in the UK forgot how to dress up and act like Ladies. As much as I love chilling out in my boyfriend jeans and a hoody on a Sunday afternoon, I still realise how important it is to dress up from time to time and not let yourself go.

Over the past couple of years this has slowly been changing. Women and girls have been embracing the dress again, not just for nights out on the town, but also for day to day wear. The re-introduction of the leggings/treggings/jeggings etc. Has made it easier for women that were not too confident baring their legs in the day, to wear a dress but still have that extra cover. Tights tend to smarten a dress but leggings make the look more casual, making dresses a great day to day staple.

it has also become acceptable to wear whatever you like on your feet with a dress, where as the smart heel tended to be the correct footwear in the past. Now days ladies are teaming their casual dresses with converse, biker boots, ankle boots, wellies etc. The list is endless. Broadening the range of styles of footwear seen as socially acceptable to wear with dresses has made the dress a more practical day time outfit.

What type of Dresses should we be wearing the daytime? The answer is; whatever you feel comfortable in! There is no reason why you can’t dress down a pretty, sparkly evening dress with a pair of chunky clumpy boots and thick tights. Or make a flowery maxi dress suitable for the winter with a scarf and chunky grandma jumper.

The most common Dress to sling on with a pair of Leggings is the simple Jersey Dress. Lightweight, cheap and needing almost no ironing, it is imperative that all Women have a few in their wardrobes for daytime wear. Whether plain or patterned with this seasons Polka Dots or Animal prints, you really can’t go wrong.

The sixties circle skirted skater dresses have recently become popular again, giving more of an edge to the shape of the traditional jersey dress. Wear with some heels or Converse and long Socks, the Skater Dress is the ultimate casual Dress of the moment. Popular also in bright, popping Jewel colours such as emerald green or mustard, the casual skater dress is guaranteed to give the wow factor during the day.
